WM Group provides high quality mine water management technical assessments, design of water infrastructure and treatment systems, water quality and quantity modelling and discharge assessments. WM Group also prepares high quality and cost effective assessments of environmental effects documents to support large scale and complex resource consent applications. Our consultants are experienced at presenting expert witness evidence at resource consent hearings. At WM Group we have significant experience in small and large open cast coal mines, underground coal mines and underground and open cast gold mines throughout New Zealand, Africa and Australia.
Our team uses a range of water balance and water quality models from simple spreadsheets through to advanced dynamic probabilistic modelling, e.g. Monte Carlo simulations using GoldSim, for assessing mine water management options and risk analysis, assessing environmental effects and sensitivity of receiving environments.
Mine water management typically requires multidisciplinary project teams. WM Group's mine water management consultants have significant experience in leading multidisciplinary project teams. We also provide groundwater assessments, treatability studies, design of mine water treatment plants and carry out dispersion modelling of discharges to open water bodies. These projects also typically require input from ecologists, mining engineers, water quality scientists and geochemists. WM Group can work within established project teams or develop a team with our project partners.
